MLS Networking Groups for Public Libraries
Quarterly Meetings
MLS holds quarterly meetings that all members are invited to attend. The purpose of these meetings is to share information and gather input on system-wide topics. Go to the Quarterly Meeting section of the MLS website for meeting dates, agendas, and handouts.
Zone Meetings
Suburban libraries in MLS are divided into Zones. Administrators from these libraries meet for discussion and networking opportunities between colleagues. To find your library’s Zone, visit the Membership Directory and check your library’s record, or view a map of the Zones.
Networking groups
MLS offers a variety of member groups and mailing lists for member-to-member or MLS staff-to-member discussion. See the Networking Group section of the MLS website for lists of the available groups as well as information for starting a new group.
MLS Links of Interest to Public Libraries
Non-resident Information
Providing service to non-residents is a choice made by each library. See the Public Library Services to Non-Residents section of the MLS website if you have questions about service to a non-resident or wish to find out what libraries participate in providing service to non-residents.
Readers’ Advisory
Explore these lists for great reads on various topics developed by the Reader's Advisory Special Interest Group.
Reference
MLS, a multi-type library system, supports the integrity of the library profession by supporting member libraries reference and information services through continuing education, staff development, and member library collaboration. See the Reference section of the MLS website for more information and resources.
Resource Sharing Policies
The policy defines the privileges and responsibilities of an MLS member library as related to interlibrary loan and reciprocal borrowing. It is expected that each library will participate in reciprocal access as completely as possible within any organizational or legal limitations that may be necessary. To search for other libraries ILL, reciprocal borrowing, or photocopy policy go to the Resource Sharing section of the MLS website.
